There was a time when feeding junk food was very challenging for our parents, but not at all expensive.

When our car passed through KFC or MC'D, our parents overlooked at it scornfully and we watched with our puppy faces passing through it from our car windows. They were ready to take the stress of cooking and feeding the home-cooked, nutritious food. The home-cooked food was the first preference and hoteling held the less eligibility.
From eating boiled eggs and drinking milk almost two times a day - morning and evening to having fruits as snacks was a routine made by most of the parents. Our dinner was meant to be a divine affair with our siblings all around the table with the hot pots being passed from one corner to another.
Every morning in school, we had a panel of discussion with our friends discussing what we ate in breakfast and what we got in tiffin for lunch? While answering we had that annoying reaction on our faces saying "We had egg or omelets, milk etc. in breakfast."
Our unprofessional barter system was in business and would plunge in whenever needed. We showed what we got in our lunchboxes as we were bored of our home food and were greedy for our friend's lunch. It seemed like a school buffet - sandwiches, noodles, pizzas, broasted chicken, chips, french fries. etc. You name them and it was there in our lunchboxes. There was no code of discipline when diving into the lunchboxes with dirty or unwashed hands. Grabbing a handful of food and chewing it as though we haven't eaten for ages.
When our moms checked with us, we always mentioned that we finished our lunch. In those years we didn't understand the drawbacks of unhealthy snacks. Today when we see our kids requesting for same, we lecture them and refrain them to have unhealthy food. Now we understand the pros and cons of healthy and unhealthy food. But our kids won't understand as we didn't too when we were of their age. And then I realized, Yes - And now, we act Saint.
