I was munching my snacks, when all sudden I had hiccups. My cook told me, you know when you get hiccups someone is remembering you.

I had my eyes wide open with an amazement and then, I laughed. So did she laugh after realizing what she told was funny. I asked her - do you still believe in this? She told me yes and old people often tell these superstition are true. I laughed again. I knew about this but I insisted her to tell me more as I was curious to know and to laugh even more. She started off and we had to and fro conversations with my contradictions.

When the milk boils and spills from the vessel , it is a good omen.

My contradiction

"Might have forgotten to switch off my gas knob."

When the glass breaks, this was a sign of arriving of evil and it's gone.

My contradiction

"You might have been careless while holding your glass."

Sweeping the floor during the evening brings bad luck.

My contradiction

"How can someone keep house unclean and sleep . Who knows someone has OCD issues."

To pregnant ladies - Don't cut with knife during an eclipse, otherwise the child face will be disfigured on birth.

My contradiction

"I am amazed as I remember holding knife during my pregnancy days and there was an eclipse during those days and everything was normal after then."

Not to forget to mention the most famous superstition.

When the black cat passes it considered as bad omen.

My contradiction

"Poor cat, what can a cat do if its born with black color. Old people sound racist to me."

and the list went on.

I tried to make sense out of each superstition but it only made me laugh and made no sense. Some superstition were funny while some made me spooked out. I wondered, where they got time to make such superstitions and the reason behind their story telling. Is it due to lack of education or ignorance? That's obvious it's their brain cooked. There is a famous proverb "Empty minds is the devil's workshop" and I realized this proverb was apt here. I am sure you might have also heard some superstitions like these. If yes, then feel free to comment below, so that we all can have a good laugh.
